Certificate Course on 'Law,Ethics and Alternatives in the Use of Animals in Experimentation'

I-CARE in conjunction with international centers of alternatives and world renowned universities will conduct a distance learning certificate course entitled "The Law, Ethics and Alternatives in the Use of Animals in Research and Education".

A comprehensive course designed for scientific/technical personnel and students. The course is open to international and national applicants with a basic graduation degree in any discipline. The course is presently designed in English and will be available in Italian and French in the near future. The course will be operated from two study centers, one in India and the other in Switzerland.

The course will include the following modules:

  1. International and national laws in the use of animals in experimentation.
  2. World thought, philosophy and ethics in the use of animals in experimentation.
  3. Indian philosophy and culture -the concepts of karma, dharma and ahimsa.
  4. Economic viability and management in the use of alternatives in research and education.
  5. The concept of "Alternatives" in the use of animals in experimentation.
  6. Alternatives in basic biomedical research.
  7. Internationally validated Alternatives in regulatory testing.
  8. Alternatives in veterinary, pharmacology , medical and life science education.
  9. International and national guidelines in regulatory testing.
  10. Role, responsibilities and guiding principles of an IAEC/IACUC member.
